Which size for which use?
29 or 32 cm: the easiest format to slip into a bag or a suitcase, ideal for a set that travels.
41.5 cm: a good middle ground for a coffee table or a desk, without taking up all the space.
54 cm: the most imposing format, meant for a piece of furniture of its own or a room where the board should be seen.
Frequently asked questions
Does the size of the board change the size of the pieces?
Yes, each format is designed to stay in proportion: the larger the board, the more comfortable the pieces are to handle.
Which format for a first chess set?
Any of them will do to begin — the choice depends above all on use (travel or home), not on playing level.
